Well he hasn't got there yet to leave I suppose but Roy Keane has decided to pull out of ITV's World Cup coverage to concentrate on his coaching career.

Now at first, I thought 'Wow! He's really committed to the Irish cause,' but given that even Martin O'Neill is going to be working with ITV in Brazil one would have to speculate that it may be something to do with the fact that he's been linked with the assistant manager's role at Aston Villa.

That or he really wants to give a lot of time to scouting Irish players at pre-season training.

The parting between Keane and ITV is said to have been amicable, with the Guardian quoting the television broadcaster as saying:

Roy has been a tremendous part of our pundit team in recent years, but we fully understand his decision to concentrate wholly on his coaching.

We wish him every success for the future.

Although his reasons are completely understandable we're definitely going to miss him during the tournament ... again.
