During England's defeat to Croatia, one tweet that this writer remembers read "I enjoy Roy Keane being on the panel. It’s like a Samuel Beckett character has wandered in and he’s about to mutter: “Yes, there is football but there is also death'".
It is in this realm of nihilism that Keane wanders again today, taking up residence on ITV for England's third-place playoff against Belgium. England trailed 1-0 at halftime, thanks to a goal from Belgian wingback Thomas Meunier.
The goal, perhaps, owed a bit to the slack defending of Danny Rose.

On ITV at half time, Keane analysed the goal and slipped easily into his role as England Tormentor-in-chief.
England gave a shocking goal away. Sloppy, lazy defending. Really lazy defending. When you look at Rose's defending on top of the centre-half's, he's never going to learn about the game. At 28 years of age...he's in trouble.
