Roy Keane would surely be high on many people's lists of prospective participants on I'm A Celebrity...Get Me Out of Here!

The popular TV show has enlisted the services of several footballers over the years, dropping them in the Australian jungle for three weeks of survival against the elements and wildlife. The likes of David Ginola, Jimmy Bullard, and Kieron Dyer have all appeared on the show since its debut in 2002.

Ex-England star Jill Scott became the first ex-footballer to win the competition in 2022. She was one of three former contestants alongside Keane in the Overlap studio for this week's episode of 'Stick to Football' with Sky Bet.

This week's special guest was Coleen Rooney, fresh from her spell in the jungle on the most recent series of I'm A Celeb. Rooney, Scott, and Ian Wright reminisced on their experiences in Australia, agreeing that the unexpected friends and connections made during the three weeks were the highlight of the experience.

That was when Roy Keane chimed in with a perfectly on-brand response.

After Coleen Rooney shared her memories of her recent spell on I'm A Celeb (which saw her finish second), her husband's ex-teammate Gary Neville turned the focus on Roy Keane across the table.

Neville noted that Keane would be a hugely popular contestant on the show, and asked if the Irishman would ever be interested in participating.

Keane shot down the idea but did return to Rooney's previous comments on making friends while in the jungle. His response was exactly what you would expect.

When we were chatting earlier about it - you're on about people in situations where they go, 'Oh, we're gonna be friends forever!'

I'd be like, 'No...it's good to be friends for those few weeks but hopefully I'll never see you again.'

That's fine! People get in situations where they go, 'Oh, we'll keep in touch.'

No! You don't have to keep in touch! It's okay.

Gary Neville and Jamie Carragher were in stitches across the table, sharing a knowing look as Keane delivered a typically no-nonsense line.

Ian Wright interjected to note that he still kept in touch with Nadine Coyle, who was a fellow contestant on the 2019 edition of I'm A Celeb.

"And that's lovely," Keane replied, "But not with all the others. Maybe one, but not loads."

It's clear that Roy Keane keeps his circle of friends tight and, unfortunately, it doesn't seem as though we can hope to see him in the jungle anytime soon.
