Alejandro Garnacho scored one of Man United's three goals during their win against Leicester City in what was Ruud van Nistlerooy's last game in charge of the club.
The Argentine had been struggling for form in recent games and even dropped from the starting line-up, prompting some fans to turn on the young winger.
A video went viral on social media earlier in the week of a United fan harassing Garnacho, and it angered the player so much that when he scored his goal against Leicester, he didn't celebrate in protest.
Speaking on the latest episode of The Overlap, Roy Keane did not accept this reason as a strong enough excuse to not celebrate.

Can I tell you something, whatever about this game and we know these younger players suffered but if you can’t celebrate a goal there’s something drastically wrong with this game.
"Whatever is going on off the pitch for any player, it could be family stuff, when you score a goal, you work all week, you’re playing the game to score a goal. But no criticism should ever affect you celebrating a goal.
"Famous last words, ‘I’m different’. When you score a goal there should be nothing else on your mind. They’re playing a game to score goals, they’ve got fans who have travelled and paid fortunes to get there, and he’s on about, ‘someone’s had a go at me’.
"People have travelled, you’ve scored a brilliant goal and enjoy it, get upset with people, and he can make his point on social media.
"Celebrate a goal, that’s what fans travel for. People make sacrifices to travel to watch Man United, he scores a brilliant goal, United are having a tough time and if a young player can’t enjoy scoring a goal for Man United do you know what he should do? Get a job somewhere else. If he’s working in a factory somebody would be giving him stick in the factory.
"There are idiots everywhere but my point is, when you score a goal, that’s gone. If he’s going to be upset with that – get a different job.
"Why do they get worried about a guy on social media? What happens, they have a go at a player with their phones ready so you have a go back. Idiots, honestly."
Arsenal legend Ian Wright was also a part of the panel, and although he and Keane would be very friendly on the show, the Englishman strongly disagreed with his friend on this one.
Not willing to back down, Wright fought Garnacho's corner in the debate.
“For a 20-year-old… he’s still going through the journey of what he’s doing, you know what I mean?” Wright explained.
“That affected him to the point where he didn’t celebrate. the thing is, that’s how much it affected him. he scored a great goal, but he’s worried about that, and he’s a young player!”
He continued: I haven’t got a problem with disagreeing. I’m trying to put it into, from Garnacho’s point of view, it affected him so much. It did affect the fact that he didn’t celebrate.
“I know for a fact that it’s the saddest thing in the world when someone scores and they don’t celebrate because of something that’s happened.”
Ruben Almiron will take over Man United following the international break, and he has a plethora of issues to address almost immediately.
If the Portugal native is to be successful though, then he will need to get his young stars like Garnacho back into form as soon as possible.
