Roy Keane says if he was in Trent Alexander Arnold's shoes he would 'go for it,' and make the move to Real Madrid.
The full back has been the subject of a transfer storm with Real Madrid having submitted a 20 million bid to prize him away from the club this January, as his contract runs out in July.
Keane doesn't believe Alexander-Arnold will leave the club in the January window but encouraged him to make the move come summer.
The Manchester United and Ireland legend also criticised Liverpool fans for 'having a go' at the 26-year-old over the transfer noise, insisting that he owes them nothing having come through the academy to win titles, playing more than 250 games for the club.
Keane excused the Liverpool fans for their anger surrounding his display on Sunday, having criticised the player himself, but he's called on them to 'show a bit of class' surrounding his contractual situation.
"There's a lot of negativity and local fans are having a go at him," Keane said on Sky Sports.
"But there's one thing I don't understand.
"If they don't agree a contract and he leaves, the amount of games he's played for Liverpool, is it 300? And he's won titles.
"Why can't people show a bit of class and say 'listen, we can't agree a deal. You're 26/27, all the best to you. Why can't the club say 'well we can't agree a deal with you.'
"You've given us great service. He's not jumped ship after just two seasons. Okay, he's a local lad, but there's a business side to it as well."
"But their argument is they might not be getting money for him, but what about the service he's given them? And as a local lad, he might have been underpaid."

Drawing on experiences from his own career, with Juventus and Bayern Munich having tried to sign him, Keane has encouraged Alexander Arnold to go for it, 'it's a short career,' he says.
"I think he's got to go to Madrid," Keane added.
"Go for it man. It's not like he's played just fifty games, he's played hundreds of games.
"Jamie's calling them the best team in the League, they might be the best team at this moment in time. But it's not as if they've won loads of titles. If Liverpool have dragged their heels with contracts, it's called a bit of self worth. And if a club like Real Madrid comes in for you, I'd say to the lad, 'go for it, it's a short career.'"
