Far from receiving a new managerial bounce, Manchester United played out a largely dull 1-1 draw with Chelsea on Sunday, in what was the club's first Premier League game of the post Erik Ten Hag era.
While the Reds finished with all eleven men on the pitch, both Roy Keane and Frank Lampard were convinced that Lisandro Martinez got off lightly for a 'nasty' challenge on Chelsea's Cole Palmer.
After running out to a thunderous crowd at Old Trafford, neither side could break the deadlock in a relatively flat opening seventy minutes. However, as the clock struck 70, Old Trafford was brought alive by a Bruno Fernandes penalty that put the hosts ahead with ease.
While the spot-kick may have had Manchester fans dreaming about a fresh start, Chelsea wasted no time bringing them back to earth as Moises Caicedo levelled the affair just four minutes later. The remaining fifteen minutes saw both sides trade chance for chance, they'd ultimately be forced to settle for a split of the spoils.
Despite the generally flat nature to much of the game, controversy struck deep in injury time when Lisandro Martinez escaped with a yellow card for a needless knee high challenge on Cole Palmer.

Frank Lampard Hits Roy Keane with Cringey One Liner
Speaking about the incident after the game, Frank Lampard couldn't help but take a jab at Roy Keane's disciplinary record, hitting the former Manchester United legend with a cringey one-liner.
The pair were on duty for Sky Sports Super Sunday, when Lampard, who has developed quite the reputation for his strange habit of instantly moving from funny moments to deadly serious topics of conversation, abruptly moved from slamming Martinez to making light of Keane.
I think it's a red card for intention, I don't think he gets as much contact as you might have done at certain times back in the day.

As the conversation rumbled on, all three of Super Sunday's pundits were in absolute agreement that a yellow card was a very lucky escape for the Argentinian footballer.
Going as far as to recognise his own chequered history with bad tackles, even Roy Keane was struggling to justify Lisandro Martinez's challenge on Cole Palmer.
Lucky boy, lucky boy, lucky boy, he won't be happy with Palmer making a fool of him here, obviously he's gone in there and this is a great bit of skill, obviously it's a nasty tackle.
I'm obviously wary with me criticising players because listen I done some daft stuff, so maybe I'll hand this over.
He's a lucky boy. I don't think he does catch him properly, almost it's down the side of his leg that's the way I'd look at it. But if he got sent off I'd say there'd be no complaints.
"It's reckless, it's nasty...he's got that nasty streak in him"

In fairness to Keane, he showed a brilliant level of self-awareness to pass the question on, although he may think twice next time if Frank Lampard keeps poking cringe jabs at him.
