Roy Keane was not the most popular man in Brazil earlier this week, after he slammed the team's exuberant celebrations in their 4-1 win over South Korea.

Keane said he saw the celebrations as "disrespectful" to the opposition, as Brazil danced in celebration of each of their four goals.

This is not the first time Keane has made such comments on celebrations, taking issue in 2020 with the wild scenes in the Aston Villa changing room after they managed to avoid relegation from the Premier League.

The ex-Manchester United captain has always been a no nonsense character - so, naturally, when footage emerged on Wednesday of Keane wildly celebrating a goal in a five-a-side game in Doha, the football world had to poke fun at the Corkman in return.

Roy Keane: Fans poke fun at wild five-a-side celebration after recent Brazil comments

Wednesday afternoon brought the first "rest" day of the World Cup, after a relentless opening. 17 consecutive days of football saw 56 games played and the tournament whittled down to just eight teams, with a grueling schedule seeing up to four games per day played for most of the group stages.

ITV and BBC are both on site in Qatar covering the contentious tournament and, to blow off steam on their first full day off, the two punditry crews decided to face off in a five-a-side game in downtown Doha.

With the scores locked and a "golden goal" required from somewhere to decide the game, up popped Roy Keane with a tidy finish past 'keeper Micah Richards to win the day for ITV (aided slightly by a deflection en route).

Keane was elated after the winner, and wheeled away in celebration, removing his shirt and jumping over a nearby win as his ITV colleagues chased after him.

Whether he was booked for removing his shirt is unconfirmed as of yet.

Naturally, after his recent comments criticising exuberant celebrations, the football world jumped to poke fun at Keane's wild reaction to a five-a-side winner.

Fans also seemed taken aback by Keane's decision to remove his shirt, but it's clear the joy of winning the coveted BBC v ITV 2022 World Cup five-a-side showdown was simply too much for the Corkonian.

In fairness to Keane, on top of the (fortuitous) goal, his dinked pass over the top to set up the chance in the first place is absolutely magic.

It's great to see that Keano's still got it on the pitch - even if we can imagine his fellow ITV pundits might similarly throw a few jokes his way when they return to punditry duty this weekend.

ITV will show both of Saturday's matches, when Morocco face Portugal and England face France in the quarter-finals - we can hope to see Roy back in action then.
