Roy Keane is someone who very much keep his private life private. He does not seem to enjoy the attention that comes with being a famous athlete, both from the media and the general public.
As a result, he very much has his shield up when it comes to discussing his own life away from football.
We very rarely hear him open up on any aspects of his home life, although we were given a glimpse into it last night.
Roy Keane recalls first date with his wife
Roy Keane appeared on the Tommy Tiernan Show last night, with the comedian producing his usual approach to his chat with the former Ireland captain.
He was quick to ask about Keane's home life, which included how he met his wife Theresa.
The pair met while the Cork man was a player at Nottingham Forest in the early 90s and have been together ever since, although it's fair to say their relationship didn't get off to the smoothest of starts.
In fact, Keane recalled their first date being an absolute disaster.

It was okay, yeah. Obviously there was drink involved.
I met Theresa in Nottingham. I was 19, 20, 21 maybe. I was enjoying myself. I had three years in Nottingham and she was on the scene. I just said 'do you fancy a drink', that's the usual chat up line isn't it?
When I was younger I was more about going out with the boys and having a drink, women wasn't a big thing for me at the time. I would more have a night out with the lads than chasing the women really.
We probably only had one proper date. It wasn't good really.
It went very badly. I picked her up at the City Ground at Forest. I met when I had a few drinks, so the chat was probably different.
We went for a spin and I asked her if she wanted to go to the pictures. At least at the pictures you can just watch the movie and you don't have to chat too much. She said no, she said she went last night with her friends. I told her there was other movies on.
I asked her if she wanted to go for a drink, she said no. I literally drove back to the car, this was all within ten or 15 minutes. She asked what I was doing, I said 'you don't want to go for a drink, you don't want to go to the pictures, what else can we do?'
She got out. I said 'I might see you next week', she said 'I don't think so' and got out and slammed the door.
That was our first date. We're still married.
They would eventually marry in 1997 and have had five children together.
It's fair to say that it all worked out in the end.
