Roy Keane has had a huge impact on the resurgence of Aston Villa, according to Joe Cole. The English midfielder said that the Cork man has galvanised both the manager and the squad since he took on the coaching role during the summer.
When he talks, people listen. I don’t know what it was like last year here but everyone I speak to around the place says how good the atmosphere is here now.
The credit has got to go to the manager and to Roy for it because you always get led by your manager and your coaches.
Cole spoke highly of Keane's gravitas, which he thinks has had massive influence on his teammates. He added that the presence of such a strong character has vastly boosted squad morale.
I just think from the football point of view it’s great for the club. Roy’s got a massive aura about him and the club needed that, needed something special. The last years have been a bit tricky and now someone like him has come into the club its about stature again.
Villa are currently lying in second place in the Premeier League after winning three of their first four matches, including a surprise away win over Liverpool. They will be looking to remain unbeaten in the league when they welcome Arsenal to Villa Park this Saturday.
