While there has been no shortage of underperforming players in the Manchester United squad this season, few of them have experienced the type of drop-off that we have seen from Caaemiro over the last year or so.
The midfielder was hailed as a brilliant signing for the club last season, having had an impressive start to life at Old Trafford after a big money move from Real Madrid. However, there were signs towards the end of the campaign that his form was beginning to dip.
This season, he has been an absolute disaster.
Casemiro has struggled right from the start of the campaign, with injuries also hampering his impact on the pitch. He has been even worse in recent times, putting in some dire performances and costing his team dearly on a few occasions.

Roy Keane hammers Casemiro over error for Arsenal goal
Casemiro was in the Manchester United team for their game against Arsenal this afternoon, once again being asked to deputise at centre back despite his awful performance in that position during the 4-0 loss to Crystal Palace.
Having cost the side on that occasion, he was once again at fault for the first goal they conceded against Mikel Arteta's side.
The Brazilian's unwillingness to get up the pitch after a pass out the field from his goalkeeper played Kai Hazertz onside, something that resulted in a straightforward goal for Arsenal.

It was an incredibly poor piece of play, one that seemingly came down to a lack of effort from the 32-year old.
Speaking on Sky Sports at halftime, Roy Keane would absolutely hammer Casemiro for his role in conceding the goal, questioning what was going through the player's head at the time.
"Well I don't know what he was doing there?!" 🤨

He has to sprint. I'm not sure what he's doing there, I don't even think he needs to make an angle for the goalkeeper there when he goes back. Why is he making a silly angle as if he's going to get it there?
I'm not say sprint like a 100-metre sprinter, but you've got to get up the pitch! Just move your feet a little bit. He's got to look across him and go 'we're in trouble here'.
Whatever about pressure, I don't think he has to make an angle here. Why is he making an angle? Just stay up the pitch!
This game is hard enough. Whatever you do, you have to do the basics right. They've not done the basics right at this moment in time.
He's an experienced player, he's got to be getting up the pitch.
Roy Keane has a point here.
You can account for a lack of form or injuries in this Manchester United team, but there are no excuses for incidents such as this one. A player of Casemiro's experience should know better.
