Roy Keane was the surprise late addition to the Manchester United Legends squad for their clash with Liverpool Legends at Anfield today.
Keane was added at the last minute to the team, but had to wait until the last 20 minutes to be brought onto the Anfield pitch.
The ex-United captain was shown that, even if it was a charity game, he remains a less than popular figure among Liverpool fans.

For Liverpool fans, Roy Keane's prime at Manchester United can't have been the most fun. The Corkonian was captain of Manchester United's most successful side in history, winning seven Premier League titles (four as captain), and leading the team to a historic treble during his time at the club.
The fact that all of that came during a dark period for Liverpool, and coupled with the intensity of Keane's presence on the pitch and commitment to the United cause, would understandably make him far from a fan favourite among the Anfield crowd.
He had that confirmed to him today.
Keane came off the bench in the closing stages of a legends game between Liverpool and Manchester United at Anfield, in aid of various charities based in both cities. Even with the jovial atmosphere of a masters-esque match, Keane received a hostile reception from the Anfield crowd.

It was a brilliant moment, and an insight into just how tribal the rivalry between Liverpool and Manchester United remains, even years after players have retired.
Keane's last professional game as a United player came when he sustained an injury in a 2005 visit to Anfield, so the game will have held a kind of edge for the Irishman as well.
It was fantastic to see 51-year-old Roy Keane back in a Manchester United jersey, nonetheless. Hilariously, Ronny Johnsen - who played alongside Keane in the 1999 treble-winning season - attempted to give Keane the captain's armband when he entered the field of play, a suggestion Keane was less than impressed by.

United would ultimately lose the legends game 2-1, with fellow Irishman Robbie Keane setting up Liverpool's first goal with a tasty cutback for Maxi Gonzalez.
