The England manager, Roy Hodgson, has launched a furious attack on Arsenal boss Arsene Wenger over the highly publicised 'topless photo' of the Arsenal manager relaxing on the beach in Brazil.
Wenger, who turned 64 last October, revealed a body in tip-top condition, an intimidatingly toned torso, putting to shame the paunches that predominate among football managers of a similar vintage.
Already the American website TMZ, one of the most venerable and respected celebrity harassing sites in the world, has established a Wenger corner on their website, with this photo taking pride of place alongside his famous Moses like pose behind the Old Trafford dugout when he was sent to the stand a couple of years ago.
At a hastily gathered poll on the Canadian site 'We-love-celeb-shit.com', Wenger was voted the sixth sexiest man on earth, a result which many viewed as disappointing given the almost unbearably irresistible nature of the above photo.
The usually guarded and tactful England manager Roy Hodgson, was surprisingly forceful and angry in his condemnation of the Frenchman.
Collectively, Football managers, above all other professions, suffer from the highest rates of stress in the world. Together we are keeping pacemaker manufacturers in business. The press, the fans, everyone is on our backs the whole time. The last thing we need is a man like Arsene betraying his colleagues by showing off his quite frankly fabulous body. I would love it if he put more clothes on.
The LMA (League Manager's Association) have already backed up Hodgson's comments and asked that Wenger refrain to swanning around topless lest more of these images get into the public domain further deepening the crisis of insecurity that plagues the football manager community.
