Roy Hodgson's facial expressions as England crashed out of Euro 2016 at the hands of Iceland were one of the highlights of the summer, but in the months since he resigned from his post immediately after that match and avoiding the questions of the media in the process, we've heard very little from the man most Liverpool fans have erased from their memory.
It's understandable. The pressure and hassle that comes with being the England manager is something that would see most people take a break, time to recollect their thoughts and come back with a fresh view on things.
The Hodge has done just that, and he appeared on Sky Sports today to explain that he still wants to be a manager, and hope an offer comes in soon.
Well, he said more than that, and now he's being slated across social media, and with good reason, as he kicked things off by claiming that Iceland "played like juggernauts" in France...
Hodgson: "Iceland were like a juggernaut." ?
— James Pearce (@JamesPearceEcho) December 7, 2016
They actually played like a massive underdog, they just played it well and let England fall over themselves by having Harry Kane blast corners and free kicks into outer space.
But Roy wasn't done there, when speaking on his value to a potential employer, he dropped another gem that delighted the folks on twitter:
Hodgson: "You become wiser with the years and make less mistakes with players than when you were young and thought you were invincible."
— James Pearce (@JamesPearceEcho) December 7, 2016
If that's the case, then we shudder to think at the amount of mistakes he made in his first gig as a manager, as nearly every player brought into Liverpool during his time there was a disaster, and his tactics as England boss were all over the place during last summer's tournament.
Needless to say, the reaction was universally negative. On Iceland the juggernauts:
@JamesPearceEcho @CameronYNWA @Rob95YNWA he's the Ali dia of management. Absolute fraud

@JamesPearceEcho how did woy even get into management, Never mind managing England and Liverpool
— Mystic Danny (@DanielTyrer) December 7, 2016
@JamesPearceEcho yes, up there with the 'formidable' Northampton Town.

@JamesPearceEcho for someone deemed so eloquent and 'studious', he doesn't half choose the wrong words at times.

@JamesPearceEcho
The Hodge as deluded as ever....— JFT96 (@RedAlert1963) December 7, 2016
And on becoming wiser with age:
@JamesPearceEcho he thought he was invincible? He's an awful manager in every sense. How he keeps getting work is beyond any football fan.
— John McMahon (@JohnMichaelMc) December 7, 2016
@JamesPearceEcho every work place has a Roy, the guy whose been there too long, slightly deluded, and ironically on the largest salary.
— Prawn Sandwich (@TheMancKiwi) December 7, 2016
@JamesPearceEcho what was he, 23 or something when he was at Liverpool?
— Frankie Moloney (@frankie__says) December 7, 2016
@JamesPearceEcho I honestly wonder if Mr Hodgson has ever been "young" like he said
— FrenchCocktail (@French_Cocktail) December 7, 2016

You can watch his interview in full over on SkySports.com, but you'd want to be really into schadenfreude to get the whole way through it.
