Shamrock Rovers have booked their place in the Europa Conference League play-off round after a 2-0 win over Teuta in Albania this evening, coming out with a 3-0 victory on aggregate.
The League of Ireland champion carried a 1-0 lead into the second leg, but they had dominated the 90 minutes in Tallaght. In the end, the one-goal margin had flattered the visitors.
Rovers were heavily fancied to go through tonight as a result, with the game looking in little doubt right from the outset.
Stephen Bradley's side dominated right from the off, eventually taking the lead in the 20th minute. The goal came via Rory Gaffney with the striker producing a beautiful chip to beat the on-rushing goalkeeper after being played down the channel by Liam Scales.
That was the difference between the sides at the interval.
Gaffney's second of the game seemingly put the result beyond any doubt.
The 31-year old was once again played in behind the opposition defence, this time producing a powerful curled finish into the bottom corner.
In the end, that would be the final scoreline.
Rovers will now face Estonian side Flora Tallinn in the play-off round, with a place in the competition's group stage on the line.
The first leg will take place one week from today on August 19th.
