Liverpool in typical Liverpool fashion have fallen over the line tonight as they progressed to the Champions League final 7-6 on aggregate.
The game will have had Liverpool fans tearing their hair out after a couple of late goals gave the Reds a scare. But one Liverpool fan who was more irate than most was RTÉ commentator Ronnie Whelan, who caught RTÉ viewers eyes with his constant negativity:
Ronnie Whelan moans more than journalists.

Ronnie Whelan still fucking moaning. Shut up.

Just me or did anyone else think Ronnie Whelan was very tough listening tonight. Dire negativity. As a former player and “club legend” you’d think he’d be more positive rather than dour and critical.

If I'd the choice between Liverpool getting into the final or Ronnie Whelan's mic being cut for the next 25 mins; I'd probably choose the latter. #LIVROM

Christ above, Ronnie Whelan is the harbinger of doom on @RTEsoccer... #depressing

I'd love if, just once, George Hamilton responded to Ronnie's rhetorical 'Why didn't he just...?' questions with 'Because it's a high pressured, fast-paced game where you don't have all day to think, Ron.'

Ronnie Whelan is in full panic mode in commentary ?

We'll stick Whelan's bad performance down to being a Liverpool fan for so long, and hopefully if the former Ireland international is commentating on the final, he won't have the need to give out so much.
