Cristiano Ronaldo became the first player since fellow Real Madrid legend Alfredo di Stefano to score in three European Cup finals with two goals in his side's 4-1 victory over Juventus in Cardiff.
Where his other three Champions League triumphs - one of which arrived in 2008 with Manchester United - might not have seen him produce quintessential Ronaldo-type performances, tonight was truly the Portuguese icon's night, as he and Sergio Ramos in particular steered Madrid to their 12th European Cup victory, and their third in four years.
Following the game, Ronaldo and his son, Cristiano Junior, were celebrating in the tunnel when Senior spotted a particularly proud old mentor. Even young Ronaldo got to meet his grandfather in football, Alex Ferguson.
It was a lovely moment, and captured by Norwegian football journalist Jan Aage Fjortoft.

Young Ronaldo...not exactly shy on confidence, is he? If he possesses a few more of his father's traits, he might do all right for himself.
Incidentally, Ferguson wasn't quite finished there, and seems to be bumping into all sorts of folk this evening. We could have another Masters situation on our hands.
