Cristiano Ronaldo has denied signing a contract extension with Real Madrid over Twitter. Quite why he felt he had to do that is uncertain. Florentino Pérez gave an interview three days ago to Marca in which he claimed Ronaldo wanted to re-sign and that he felt certain Cristiano would retire at Real Madrid.

While The Sun and The Independent both reported last night that Real Madrid were prepared to make a large fresh offer to Ronaldo, there were no reports that he had actually put pen to paper. It is known that Monaco are closely following negotiations and perhaps the tweet is a calculated attempt to gain a better bargaining position.
