It's been an interesting 12 months for Ed Woodward.

Following David Moyes unsuccessful stint as Manchester United manager, Woodward was given all sorts of abuse for his failure to land major transfer targets during that reign.

Then came the end of the transfer window at the start of last season, where Woodward was praised for landing Angel Di Maria and Radamel Falcao along with several other signings in a short space of time. Now, with the capture of Bastian Schweinsteiger and Morgan Schneiderlin coming hot on the heels of Matteo Darmian and Mephis Depay, Ed Woodward is a hero, if the latest memes and gifs are anything to go by.

Well today Ed Woodward has been very publicly praised by former Manchester United striker Robin Van Persie as he professed his admiration for him upon his arrival at Fenerbache:

I highly appreciate the work of Ed Woodward, the CEO of Manchester United. The way he dealt with this transfer is from a high level, it's very classy.

He proved he's a true gentleman in the way he dealt with the whole situation. Ed, if you're listening, thank you.

That is actually suspiciously positive from RVP. He's not being sarcastic, is he?

No, he's probably not, but it's still unusual to see a suit in the football World be praised in such a manner. I guess you could call that the Ed Woodward effect.

By the way, if you haven't seen the Ed Woodward/Wolf Of Wall Street mash up, then fix that now:
