Former Ireland U21 international Robert Kiernan is close to making Ibrox his new home.
According to the Press Association, Rangers have had a bid accepted for the Wigan player. That bid is around £200,000 say Sky Sports.
The 24-year-old would be the first signing for new Rangers boss Mark Warburton.
Kiernan, who was born in Watford, has played at several youth levels for Ireland and captained the Irish U21s during the qualifying campaign for the 2013 European Championships.
The defender made 18 first-team appearances for Wigan last season before going on loan to Birmingham where he made a further 12 Championship appearances.
He was actually close to making a permanent move to Birmingham but they reportedly "were unhappy with aspects of his medical".
Just over two years ago, while manager of Wigan, current Everton boss Roberto Martinez spoke very highly of Kiernan.
He is one of our young players who has an incredible potential.
He is a captain, a leader – one of those rare members of that breed of players who are talkers and communicators. I am very excited about his future.
He’s had a couple of injuries last season but he’s come back really strong and I’ve been very impressed this season. He’s played very good games for Brentford, and in training for us.
Rob is a terrific example to other youngsters at Wigan and he can be as good as he wants to be.
Another Irish player on his way out of Wigan is James McClean.
The winger is nearing a deal with West Brom.
