In case you didn't know, the World Cup started today in the Luzhniki Stadium as Russia took on Saudi Arabia.
Before the game there was the inevitable lengthy opening ceremony in which veteran popstar Robbie Williams stunned the crowd as well as viewers at home by sandwiching a series of his songs in between a middle finger shown to one of the cameramen at the event.
Fans were forced to sit through renditions of Angels, Let Me Entertain and Rock DJ before viewers were treated to Williams' middle digit.
As of now there are now there are no plans to punish Williams for his performance, with Putin going on record as saying Williams' middle finger just about salvaged the Englishman's set.
Williams' set was curious in that most of the songs he performed more than a decade old, a fact that was not lost on comedian Kevin Bridges:
