With the MLS play-offs down to the final two, the league's best XI selection has been announced and with the league's development continuing apace it's (nearly) all change this year. The likes of Sebastian Giovinco have decided to head Stateside and the quality is certainly improving.
That speed of change in the MLS is on show when you see the fact that of the eleven players in the team of the year, ten of them are in there for the first time. The headline used to announced the team was '2015 MLS Best XI revealed: 10 first-time selections get the nod' and it will come as no surprise to find out who the only returning presence on the team is.
LA Galaxy's play-off hopes may have ended at the first hurdle but Robbie Keane is still rolling in the individual accolades. For the fourth straight year in a row, Keane has been named in the team of the year despite the fact that he only managed 24 appearances. However, those appearances saw him tally 20 goals and eight assists and he duly takes his place alongside Giovinco and Kei Kamara on the Best XI selection.
The MLS may be all change in terms of the players at the top but Keane is going nowhere.
2015 MLS Best XI:
Goalkeeper: Luis Robles
Defenders: Laurent Ciman; Matt Hedges; Kendall Waston
Midfielders: Ethan Finlay; Dax McCarty; Benny Feilhaber; Fabian Castillo
Forwards: Sebastian Giovinco; Kei Kamara; Robbie Keane
With Giovinco tearing things up with 22 goals and 16 assists, it's very unlikely Keane will pick up another League MVP award but another Best XI selection just goes to show how much he has left to give at the ripe old age of 35.
