19 league games into Jonathan Woodgate's time as Middlesbrough manager and the club sit fifth from bottom of the Championship, just a point outside the relegation zone.
The Sun reports today that though owner Steve Gibson wished to give the former Boro player every chance in charge of the club, he may soon be sacked with Neil Warnock likely to be the next man in.
Should Woodgate depart, that would mean an uncertain future for Robbie Keane. The former Ireland international joined Middlesbrough as assistant manager when Woodgate was appointed during the summer. Boro have managed to notch 19 goals and three wins this season.
If Warnock joins, it is likely that Keane would leave the club.
The 39-year-old is also assistant to Mick McCarthy with Ireland. That is another role where he faces a nebulous future.
With Stephen Kenny set to take over from McCarthy once the Euro 2020 campaign is over, it is uncertain if Keane would be retained in his current position.
