Even dreams have an expiry date.
Robbie Keane's gilded Irish odyssey is over: he was substituted for Wes Hoolahan after 58 minutes to rapturous applause at the Aviva following his 146th international cap.
He marked it, of course, with a goal: his sixty-eighth in Irish colours.
He spoke to Adrian Barry of Eir Sport on the touchline afterwards, and struggled to keep his emotions in check as the reality of the end sank in.
Huge word for his ten-month-old son Hudson, who was taken with the Eir Sport mic cover. Watch it below:
Farewell Robbie.
