Robbie Keane has taken to the MLS pretty well, winning three MLS cups as well as the MLS MVP last year.
Having seen previous star-name teammates David Beckham and Landon Donavan exit the club, he is preparing to welcome Steven Gerrard in July.
Keane has first hand experience with Gerrad having played with him at Liverpool and is full of praise for the former England international in an interview with the Long Beach Press Telegram.
What you see is what you get (with Gerrard),Most games are exactly the same — dominating the midfield and creating chances, keeping the ball and spraying passes 50, 70 yards on people’s feet every time — nine times out of 10, 10 times out of 10.
He has kind of similar passing range to Becks when Becks was here. Long distance, short distance. Overall, just a top, top player.
He even went on to compare him to former Irish teammate and current Irish assistant manager Roy Keane.
Him and Roy Keane. He’s able to make players around him even better. The players will see how good he is. He makes things look very, very simple. For other players, it’s difficult, but for him it’s not. He’s certainly going to be a huge help to this team.
Seeing as Roy famously said Gerrard was "a good player, not a great player", we're not sure how he'll take to the comparison.
