While there was no shortage of controversy surrounding his move to Israel, there is no doubt that Robbie Keane will view his first season in charge of Maccabi Tel Aviv as a huge success on the pitch.
The former Republic of Ireland striker moved to the club last summer, taking up his first job in management after coaching roles with the likes of Ireland, Middlesbrough, and Leeds United.
He received quite a bit of criticism at the time, with Keane saying he did not want to become involved in the politics when asked about the backlash he received. Of course, the political situation in Israel has become even more controversial since then, especially with the ongoing situation in Gaza.
From a purely footballing point of view, there is no doubt that Keane has thrived at his new club.
He would lead Maccabi Tel Aviv to a first league title since 2020 with two games to spare, having also produced some impressive performances in the Europa Conference League prior to a bizarre 6-1 loss to Olympiacos in the last-16 (the Israeli team had won the first leg 4-1 away from home).
While he will now have the opportunity to lead the club in the Champions League next season, it appears as though Robbie Keane is also considering the possibility of a move elsewhere.

Robbie Keane 'open' to Israeli exit this summer
Football journalist Alan Nixon is reporting that Robbie Keane is 'open' to a move to English football on the back of his success in Israel.
Despite having just one season of management under his belt, it is likely that the Irishman would attract some interest from EFL clubs considering his successes at Maccabi Tel Aviv.
Of course, the Republic of Ireland job is also still available. However, Keane's recent relationship with the FAI and the criticism of his move to Israel would make that an unlikely move at this point.
Whether he leaves his current club remains to be seen, but it would certainly benefit Robbie Keane's managerial career and reputation in his home country to move elsewhere this summer.
