The MLS has named Robbie Keane as one of three finalists for their end of season Most Valuable Player award. The LA Galaxy captain faces competition from Chicago Fire's Mike Magee and Montreal Impact's Marco Di Vaio, once of Juventus, for the award.
Magee and Di Vaio both scored more than Keane this season, with 21 and 20 goals respectively to Keane's 16. However, the Republic of Ireland striker also has 11 assists to his name in the 23 games he played this season.
None of the three players are involved in the Conference finals, the second-legs of which take place this weekend, while Keane was the only player whose side reached the semifinals.
According to the MLS website, "the finalists were determined by the polling of three voting groups: players, clubs (coaches, technical directors, etc.), and media."
The winner will be announced on Thursday, 5 December, two days after the team of the year is announced.
