Good news for those of you who had Atletico de Kolkata in the 'It was always Robbie Keane's dream to grow up and play for ___' sweepstakes.
The Indian club have confirmed that Keane has signed on for the forthcoming Super League season, and will play under his former Tottenham teammate, Teddy Sheringham and will follow in the footsteps of other Liverpool legends Luis Garcia and Josemi(?) by playing for the club.
It is Keane's eleventh club, a succession of employment that has taken him to five countries: India, the U.S., Italy, England, and Scotland.
Keane spent five months in 2010 at Celtic, as his second spell at Spurs soured somewhat.
His brief time at Celtic was remembered this week by former Rangers midfielder Kevin Thomson, speaking on the Heart and Hand Extra podcast, a production by and for Rangers supporters.
He revealed details of a tangle with Robbie Keane during an Old Firm clash which Rangers won 1-0, in which he claimed Keane was "shitting himself" through fear.
We pick up Thomson's quotes off the back of the fact players were keen to lay down a marker physically at the beginning of the game. Keane fell within Thomson's sights:
Someone was getting it. What made me rage more, which was probably the worst thing for Robbie, he’d pulled my jersey after I clattered him and he’d pulled me down toward him.
I pushed him away. He said something. He called me like a wee prick or something. As he was running back, I told him he was fucking getting it again....
...I swear, fuck, I was like a bull now, I was going for him this time. He started talking to me through the game. Hand on heart, Robbie Keane’s a wonderful player. He doesn’t give two monkeys about Kevin Thomson – I understand that.
But he was shitting himself that day.Every time I went near him I told him you’re fucking getting it. Not normally many people get my back up. Some of the things he said to me, he made me rage.
