Robbie Keane treated his followers to the obligatory post-operation instagram post following surgery on his knee.
'Operation done, speedy recovery, hopefully back soon stronger', was his jaunty accompanying message.
Keane was in Dublin for the recent friendlies but watched all 180 minutes from the bench. He returned to undergo surgery in Southern Carolina.
Martin O'Neill is not concerned about Keane's medium term fitness, saying he doesn't have any real worries.
Despite his advancing years, Keane's decision to send a picture of the post-operation aftermath to his followers shows he is au fait with the mores and the customs of the modern footballer.
Today, Jonathan Walters also announced he was perfectly fine following an operation.
Unlike Keane, he failed to provide his fans with the post-op selfie, though he did apologise for it later on. Walters is of the old stock. An honest to goodness Tory voter who doesn't bother with any of that preening (as he would see it).
Apologies for no post op selfie. I had surgery yesterday and all went well, delighted to have moved up two cup sizes ??
