Roy O'Donovan has become Robbie Fowler's first signing as manager of Brisbane Roar.
The Corkman joins Brisbane after two seasons with the Newcastle Jets. The Jets withdrew a contract offer to the 33-year-old last month after negotiations broke down.
O'Donovan has signed a two-year deal with Brisbane to continue his career in the A-League. He had also previously played for the Central Coast Mariners.
"Getting a quality striker with a proven track record in the A-League was a key position for us to fill," said Fowler.
I was impressed with what I’ve seen of Roy so far and genuinely feel that there is plenty more to come from him and look forward to his contribution as a goal scorer and an experienced member of the squad.
O'Donovan, who has played for Cork City, Sunderland and Coventry, has scored 39 goals in four seasons in Australia.
"It’s an exciting time to be joining the club and the chance to work with Premier League legend Robbie Fowler was a big factor in my decision," said O'Donovan.
