Burnley last forked out their record fee on Brady's international teammate and another player to have come through St Kevin's Boys: Jeff Hendrick.

Brady was linked with a number of clubs this month, including alternative Premier League moves to Crystal Palace and Sunderland.
Regarding the latter, Sunderland manager David Moyes said that Brady rejected a move to the Stadium of Light. The Dubliner's previous transfer moves were followed by swift relegation for his teams.

The signing of Jeffrey Schlupp and Patrick van Aanholt meant Palace aborted their move for Brady. They were rumoured to have agreed an initial fee of £9m rising to £12 million. Aston Villa were also rumoured to be interested in the player.

A deal with Burnley, where Brady will team up for fellow Irish internationsl Jeff Hendrick and Stephen Ward, was reportedly close since late last week.

However, Norwich wished to complete a deal for a replacement before sanctioning the sale of the Dubliner. The acquisition of Dutch winger Yanic Wildschut from Wigan appears to have allowed the inking of the Brady deal.
