Burnley manager Sean Dyche has confirmed that Robbie Brady will undergo surgery which will keep him out of action for a lengthy period.
The Ireland international sustained a knee injury at the weekend during Burnley's 1-0 defeat against Leicester. Brady was stretchered from the pitch after half an hour after going down injured in the box.
Dyche told the Burnley club website:
Robbie will have surgery to repair a patellar tendon tear and will be out for a substantial recovery period.
He will be given all the time and care he needs on his recovery and supported throughout from all of us at Burnley Football Club.
The injury has come at a particularly unfortunate time for Brady, who has really hit form for Burnley this season.
In terms of the Ireland team, his absence will have less of an impact. Martin O'Neill's side will not playing a Euro 2020 qualfying game until March 2019.
