A well-taken Richie Towell goal was not enough to secure a potentially huge three points for Rotherham today as the Championship club fell to a 2-2 draw with Sheffield Wednesday.
It was a disappointing finish for Rotherham with relegation looming. They look destined for a positive result only for a late equaliser from Dominic Iorfa after ten minutes of extra time.
Towell had scored after 74 minutes to put Rotherham into a 2-1 lead. The Irish midfielder was clearly overjoyed with his effort, as he ran to the corner and volley the corner flag.
There was more late drama with Fernando Forestieri sent off for a second yellow picked up in the aftermath of the game's final goal.
The result leaves Rotherham 22th and in a dog-fought at the foot of the Championship. Just five points separate Bolton in 23th and Millwall in 20th.
