Donal Og Cusack gently suggested yesterday that asserting that Kilkenny 'don't do tactics' is on a par with claiming that the Pope isn't a Catholic and that bears use bidets.
On Off the Ball tonight, Richie Hogan stepped into the breach and defended the apparently discredited notion that for Kilkenny, tactics are a kind of mint (Billy Connolly).
We genuinely don’t have any tactics and I’ve been saying it for a long time. You can’t have tactics because you can get round tactics. You can work around game-plans. You can’t beat just pure honest work-rate mixed with a little bit of skill and people working together.
Hogan admitted that he hadn't trained much in the lead up to the game. He was taken off shortly before the end and had a relatively quiet game by his own ludicrously high standards. He still of course succeeded in popping over a few points.
