Richard Dunne's lengthy career in English football could be about to end. The former Man City defender was released by QPR yesterday along with the likes of high earners Rio Ferdinand and Joey Barton and now it looks like Dunne may have to look further afield if he wants to continue his playing career.
The latest reports this morning suggest that Dunne is being lined up to be the next Ireland international to make the move to the MLS. Robbie Keane, Sean St Ledger and Kevin Doyle are already plying their trade in America this season and with suggestions that James McClean could also join them, there's certainly a trend developing.
Dunne could be joining Keane on the west coast with LA Galaxy one of two clubs to be linked with the 35 year old. New York Red Bulls, who are being heavily linked with McClean, are said to be another possible destination.
Elsewhere in the MLS, Robbie Keane made his comeback from a two month injury lay-off during Galaxy's 1-0 win over Real Salt Lake last night. However, there was less positive news for Kevin Doyle. The Wexford man's second appearance in a Colorado Rapids jersey ended in a 1-0 defeat to Seattle Sounders.
