Judy Finnigan, one half of Richard and Judy, has apologised after controversial comments she made about convicted rapist Ched Evans in her debut appearance on Loose women. The broadcaster described the ex-Sheffield Utd's sexual assault on a 19-year-old girl as "non-violent" and even criticised the victim for having "consumed too much alcohol".
Evans is up for release later this month after serving two and half years of his five-year sentence. He was found guilty of rape after the court ruled that the woman was too drunk to consent to sexual intercourse. She had no memory of the incident.

It was unpleasant, in a hotel room, I believe, and she was – she had far too much to drink. And you know, that is reprehensible, but he has been convicted and he has served his time.
Now when he comes out, what are we supposed to do? Just actually refuse to let him do his job? Again, even though he has already been punished?

She later apologised for her comments after they were met with widespread vitriol on social media.
