Martin O'Neill has named the Irish side aiming to seal a second improbable triumph in Wales in less than a year. Ireland are shorn of a number of heroes of that night eleven months ago: Goalscorer James McClean is out with a wrist injury and dummy-master Harry Arter is out with a fell-out-with-the-assistant-manager twinge.
It means that Ireland have given a debut to Callum Robinson, who starts up front with Jon Walters. Ireland look set to deal with the threat of Gareth Bale by playing Cyrus Christie ahead of Seamus Coleman (or vice versa) with Conor Hourihane and Jeff Hendrick in midfield. Expect Callum O'Dowda to play on the left.
Alternatively, Ireland might play three at the back, with one of Coleman or Christie filling in on the right of that trio. This would push Ward further on and draw O'Dowda into the centre.
Regardless, it's a first competitive start for Hourihane and Robinson.
