We found out yesterday that Rio Ferdinand will be leaving Man Utd. Ferdinand said on his website that after thinking "long and hard" the "time is right for me to move on". The Daily Mail had a different story though, saying that Man Utd executive vice-chairman Edward Woodward told Ferdinand in the dressing room after Sunday's draw with Southampton that his contract would not be renewed.

That story is backed up by a report in The Telegraph this morning saying that it was Man Utd manager-elect Louis van Gaal's decision to leave the centre back go. According to The Times, Ferdinand has been offered an ambassadorial role by Utd. Though he also has offers from the MLS, Turkey and Qatar.
The clearout at the club will not stop there according to The Daily Mail. They report that coaches Phil Neville and Chris Woods both of whom were brought to the club by David Moyes have been told by Woodward that their contracts at Old Trafford will be terminated. Both were informed after Sunday's game.
One man could be returning to the club though, Dutch coach Rene Meulensteen who had a failed stint as Fulham manager this season has been offered a role by Woodward.
