With Jose Mourinho's frustrations loosed upon the world, things are falling apart at Chelsea. The Chelsea board are believed to be meeting today to discuss Jose Mourinho's future following a ninth leage defeat of the season against Leicester on Monday.
Abramovich is believed to remain reluctant to fire Mourinho a second time, with the manager retaining the backing of the Chelsea supporters. The Times' Matt Hughes is reporting that should Mourinho be sacked, former Tottenham manager Juande Ramos is being considered for the role on an interim basis.
The Russian owner has baited Chelsea fans previously, by appointing the profoundly unpopular Rafa Benitez as interim manager in 2012 following the sacking of Roberto Di Matteo. Benitez had the temerity to beat Mourinho and Chelsea in two European Cup semi-finals while at Liverpool, and appointing Ramos would be another instance of the appointing of a Spanish manager who has enjoyed cup success against Chelsea: his Spurs team beat the Blues in the 2008 League Cup final.
Ramos was sacked by Spurs the following season having picked up just two points from eight games. Ramos ended that season in interim charge of Real Madrid, and has gone on to manage CSKA Moscow and Dnipro Dnipropetrovsk.
