If Jose Mourinho gets his way, he will be back in the Premier League sooner rather than later. Miguel Delaney and Jack Pitt-Brooke are reporting that Mourinho's representatives have tentatively reached out to officials at Manchester United with a view to the Portugese replacing Louis Van Gaal at Old Trafford.
Sources close to Mourinho say he has already received job offers for the start of next season, but his representatives have also reached out to United because it is the role he has coveted above all others, especially since it became clear that his second spell at Chelsea was coming to an end.
Mourinho has long coveted the United job, most publicly after a Champions League tie win in Alex Ferguson's final season when he turned the post-match interview into a job interview.
With Manchester City seemingly leading the race to appoint Pep Guardiola, it seems Mourinho believes he will be able to exploit United's dissatisfaction with Van Gaal and go to war with his great rival Guardiola from the Old Trafford dugout.
