According to Mark Ogden of The Telegraph, the announcement of Van Gaal at Man Utd manager has been delayed until next week due to Holland's friendly with Ecuador in Amsterdam on Saturday.

Van Gaal would like to avoid the perception that sealing his future at Old Trafford is taking priority over his current job.

Ryan Giggs will be appointed as assistant manager to Louis van Gaal at Manchester United according to several reports. The announcement of Van Gaal as United manager is also expected to be made within the next 24 hours.

Giggs met with the current Dutch national team coach at his home in the town of Noordwijk yesterday for a three-hour talk. He is thought to have offered the interim Man Utd manager a role as his assistant after his current no. 2 with Holland, Patrick Kluivert, expressed doubts about a move to Old Trafford.

The Mirror say that 62-year-old will sign a two-year deal as Man Utd manager, earn £7 million a year and have an option to extend his stay for a third year. The paper also report that Van Gaal would prefer for Giggs to concentrate solely on his coaching role which could mean his playing days are over.
