Reports in today's edition of The Sun of Moyes' fruitless hairdryer treatment paint the picture of a manager who was completely unable to get any sort of reaction from his players.
They claim that at half time in the first Manchester derby in September, Moyes let loose in the dressing room, shouting 'This is not even men against boys — this is men against girls.'
He may as well have been shouting at a field of thistles.
Indeed The Irish Star today allege that it was actually Moyes who was the unnamed coach nicknamed 'Fuck Off' by the players; in honour of the impulsive reaction they would have every time he tried to give them advice.
Fast forward to United's penalty shoot-out defeat to Sunderland in the Capital One Cup and The Sun say that Moyes told the squad 'You are trying to get me the sack.'
Again after their loss to Olympiacos Moyes said 'I know what you lot are trying to do.'
Meanwhile The Guardian are saying today that if Louis Van Gaal is to take over, the appointment could be made before 7 May when he heads off on Holland duty for the World Cup.
