You could definitely see this one happening. Wolves have been linked with a move for three-time Champions League winner Pepe, as they seek to cement their place as a top half side in the Premier League.

The Portuguese international is available on a free transfer, having left Besiktas by mutual consent due to financial issues a number of weeks ago. He is now free to discuss a potential move with interested clubs, and Turkish outlet Fanatik is reporting that Wolves are leading the chase for his signature.

The Jorge Mendes link is no doubt having a major influence here, with Pepe being a client of the football super-agent. Mendes has had a major part to play in the rise of the English club in recent seasons, with a number of his clients plying their trade in Wolverhampton.

The likes of Ruben Neves, Rui Patricio and Joao Moutinho has all moved to the club in the past couple of years, and it now loos like Pepe may be added to that list. Wolves were interested in the player in the summer transfer window, but Besiktas were unwilling to let him leave due to a lack of defensive cover.

The wisdom behind this move can be debated, however. Pepe is now 35-years old, and looks a shadow of the player we seen at Real Madrid. For a number of years he was one of the top defenders in world football, winning three Champions League titles during a 10-year spell at the Santiago Bernabeu.

He could be a big influence in the dressing room however, given his top level experience. He is also still a regular fixture for Portugal, so obviously remains an asset on the pitch. Nuno Espiritio Santo favours playing three at the back, so he would likely see plenty of playing time. This is definitely one to keep an eye on in the coming weeks.
