Manchester United's transfer window is finally starting to kick into gear, with the club confirming the signings of Daniel James and Aaron Wan-Bissaka over the past couple of weeks. Those deals indicate a possible change in United's transfer policy, with the focus now on youth.
With a number of players, such as Paul Pogba and Romelu Lukaku, linked with the exit door, you certainly get the feeling that their business is not done yet.
If experienced players such as those do leave, you would expect similar quality brought in to replace them. With Lukaku angling for a move to Italy, it appears the the club have already made moves to secure his replacement.
Spanish outlet La Colina de Nervion have reported that United have agreed personal terms with Sevilla striker Wissam Ben Yedder, who netted 30 goals in all competitions last season.
While no deal has been agreed with his club, the player does have a £36million release clause. That fee is certainly within the grasp of United and the 28-year old could prove good value for money.
Ben Yedder has steadily improved over the past few seasons, culminating in his a prolific 2018/19 campaign. The player has now forced his way into the France squad, scoring his first international goal in the win over Andorra earlier this month.
He is a player that United have seen in action up close, with his brace ensuring their elimination from the Champions League at the hand of Sevilla in February 2018.
Ben Yedder would certainly be an excellent replacement for Lukaku and would fit perfectly into the type of pacy front line seemingly preferred by Ole Gunnar Solskjaer. He would be well suited to playing alongside Marcus Rashford, and can operate from out wide when required.
