It's yet another new era at Manchester United as Ruben Amorim is beginning to settle into his new role at Old Trafford.
One of the major talking points since Amorim's arrival has been his patented 3-4-3 formation and how this current version of Manchester United don't have the players to perfectly fit that system.
That and the fact that this current crop of United players are very average has led to speculation that United are going to go on another spending spree in 2025 as INEOS look to back their new manager following their fluffing of the Erik ten Hag situation last summer and the odd dismissal of Dan Ashworth after just over 100 days in his role as Sporting Director.
While many expect the majority of the spending to be made in the summer, reports have come out that United could make a couple of signings as early as January.
Report: Manchester United Closing In On First Signings Of Ruben Amorim Era
Over the past week reports have come out that Manchester United are set to make their first two signings of the Ruben Amorim era in the form of Éderson from Atalanta and youngster Diego León from Paraguay.
Éderson is a 25-year old Brazilian central midfielder who has thrived under Gian Piero Gasperini at Atalanta since moving there from Salernitana for over €20 million in 2022. He was part of Atalanta's historic Europa League win in Dublin last May as the side from Bergamo dismantled Xabi Alonso's Bayer Leverkusen 3-0.
Florian Plattenburg of Sky Germany reported during the week that United are discussing the move internally. Tranfermarkt have him valued at around €40 million so it looks like it will be yet another big money deal if United are to get it over the line.
The next name is probably one that very few if any at all have heard of and that's Diego León. The 17-year old plays for Cerro Porteño in Paraguay mostly as a left back. He's been a regular for Cerro, starting in 18 league games so far in 2024 and bagging two goals in that time.
Fabrizio Romano has detailed that the deal will be worth around $4 million initially with some minor add-ons and León will make the move to England in the summer of 2025.
The new INEOS regime has gotten off to a fairly shaky start it will be fair to say but it seems that we may have an glimpse into how the regime will work going forward.
Shaun Irvine posted on Twitter confirming Manchester United's interest in Éderson and León but also mentioned that Jason Wilcox is leading the negotiations.

Wilcox was one of the men poached by INEOS to lead up United's new board room set up. Wilcox was credited for his time at Southampton as well as his spell as Academy director at Manchester City, where he worked with current Manchester United CEO Omar Berrada.
With Dan Ashworth controversially being shown the door earlier this week many questioned were INEOS actual going to steady United's ship or will it just be another type of chaos United have endured under the Glazers.
While it's still way too early to answer that question, it's interesting to see that there's more defined roles for those working behind the scenes at Old Trafford, something which you couldn't have said in regimes gone by.
