It's fair to say that Jurgen Klopp is the best manager on the market at the moment. The German has had a glittering career up until now and after leaving Liverpool this summer the next question is where will he go next?
He has kept a fairly tight lip on where he's looking to go, only saying that he will never manage another Premier League team.
He's previously been linked with a move to International football with the German national team job a few years ago but with Julian Nagelsmann doing a solid job at the Euros and signing a new deal to stay on as manager until after the World Cup it looks unlikely for now that Klopp will manage his home nation.
He's even been linked with the role as president of Borussia Dortmund but the latest reports indicate that he could be taking a job away from Europe.
Report: Jurgen Klopp A Top Target For Shock International Job
Miguel Delaney of the Independent is reporting that Jurgen Klopp is the top target for the USA national team after they fired boss Greg Berhalter earlier this week.
Berhalter was relieved of his duties after the US' disastrous Copa America this summer. As hosts, the US were knocked out at the group stages after suffering defeats to Uruguay and Panama.
With the United States along with Canada and Mexico hosting the next World Cup in 2026 the US Soccer Federation are looking to put in a good showing on home soil. With players lining up for the likes of Borussia Dortmund, AC Milan and Juventus they certainly have the capability of going further than the group stages, especially under a manager like Klopp.
It would be quite the coup for the USSF but it's a project that aligns with Klopp's previous jobs.
He began his managerial career at minnows Mainz where he was able to put in the foundations to make a club that had previously been a third-tier regular into a mid-table side in the Bundesliga.
He then took jobs at underperforming clubs Borussia Dortmund and Liverpool and brought them both back to being European giants once again, reaching several Champions League finals with both sides and winning one at Liverpool.
To say the US are underperforming would be an understatement. They safely have the most money out of any CONCACAF nation but haven't had the results to back up the investment.
Losing to Panama is just one of several embarrassing defeats the US suffered under Berhalter, which included a defeat to Trinidad and Tobago in the CONCACAF Nations League quarterfinals.
This would be an interesting move for Klopp as well as he could become the man that finally makes the US a football powerhouse. With the popularity of the MLS, the money in US soccer now and having more American representation in the top leagues in Europe it's only a matter of time before the US become one of the top sides in the world and Klopp could be the main to take them there.
