Joe Hart has had an almighty fall from grace. Having been a mainstay between the posts for both England and Manchester City for a number of years, his career has pretty much fallen off a cliff over the past couple of seasons.
Many believe it all started with Pep Guardiola's arrival at The Etihad, but in truth his decline has begun long before then.
As often seems to be the case with English players, his abilities were long overrated by most across the water. He was prone to dropping an absolute clanger, and was often more concerned with shouting at his teammates than being a top level goalkeeper.
After years of being protected by fairly strong City and England defences, it all caught up with him eventually.
His loan spell at Torino was pretty disastrous, with the president of the Italian club admitting he couldn't quite believe the amount of mistakes the player made.
He was then dropped as first choice after half a season at West Ham, before an injury ravaged Burnley gave him an opportunity last season. With their first choice goalkeepers now recovered, they are willing to let Hart leave on a free transfer.
It may actually work out for the player. The Daily Star are reporting that Porto are interested in signing Hart, as they seek to bring in a replacement for Iker Casillas.
38- year old Casillas suffered a major health scare earlier this year, and his future playing prospects remain unclear. He is currently acting as a coach at the Portuguese club, and it is uncertain if he will return to playing.
The Englishman would be seen as an experienced option to bring in, although you get the feeling the former European Cup winners could probably do better. Still, this has a bang of a Joe Hart transfer about it.
We look forward to reading reports that he has been dropped by late November.
