Republic of Ireland U17 international Mipo Odubeko is in talks to join West Ham, having turned down the offer of a new Manchester United contract earlier this year.
The 16-year old was considered one of the most promising youth prospects at Old Trafford, having scored 35 goals for the club last season. However, Odubeko rejected a contract offer from the club in July in order to seek out a more realistic chance of first team football.
Manchester United had been hoping to bring the player back to the club, reaching out to him a number of times in recent months. They faced plenty of competition for his signature, with the likes of Bayern Munich, Borussia Dortmund, and Juventus all linked.
According to 90Min, the player has opted to stay in England. He is currently in negotiations to sign with West Ham, with a deal close to being completed. Manchester United are also speaking with the London club as they would be due some sort of compensation.
Odubeko played youth football with both Crumlin United and St Josephs before moving across the Irish Sea, and has lined out at U17 level for Ireland earlier this year. Nigeria have made their interest known in the player, but he has so far remained committed to Ireland.
Should he move to West Ham, his goalscoring ability will hopefully ensure that first team opportunities are not too far away.
