Barcelona have yet to make a major splash in the transfer market this summer, but you get the feeling that something big is brewing.
The club have been heavily linked with Antoine Griezmann, with that deal taking far longer to complete than we would have predicted. Still, you would expect them to get it over the line. There is a desire on all sides to get it done, and Atletico have already got their replacement in Joao Felix.
While Griezmann may seem inevitable, a possible Neymar reunion is certainly less so.
The Brazilian has quickly grown tired of life in France, and PSG are open to moving him on this summer. However, they will seek a huge fee in return.
The winger moved from Barcelona in a £198million deal two years ago, and despite the issues surrounding the player since then, PSG will expect to recoup most their investment.
That is a problem for Barcelona, who do not currently have the money to fund such a deal. As a result, they will have to get creative if they are to pull this one off.
Mundo Deportivo are reporting that Barcelona are hoping to pull off a swap deal for Neymar, which could see as many as four players go in the opposite direction. Philippe Coutinho, Samuel Umtiti, Ousmane Dembele, and Ivan Rakitic are apparently all on the table.
While some of those players have seen their stock fall in recent times, this would seem like a massive overpay from Barcelona.
They are keen to move on from Coutinho, but he still holds plenty of transfer value. The same could be said of Ousmane Dembele, and while Rakitic is now on the wrong side of 30, Umtiti is still a quality defender that most teams would love to have.
We may see one or two of these players included in any potential transfer, but the logistics of packaging all four would seem incredibly difficult to pull off.
