Reading have not been in the Premier League for a decade, but football fans in this part of the world will hold some fond memories of their most successful stint in the top flight.
Their team was littered with Irish players in the mid-00s, with the likes of Kevin Doyle, Shane Long, and Stephen Hunt all key men during this period.
The club would finish in 8th place during their debut campaign in the Premier League in 2006/07, a fantastic achievement for a promoted side. While they would be relegated the following season, those couple of seasons provided plenty of memorable moments.
Reading clap back at Gary Neville with Kevin Doyle response
It's fair to say Reading no longer have the profile they once did, with the club having largely been a mid-table Championship club over the last ten years or so.
Gary Neville certainly hasn't given much consideration to the club in recent teams, saying this when asked what he thought about the club over the weekend.

Fan: What do you think of Reading?
Neville: Reading?
Fan: Yeah.
Neville: I don't think of Reading, what do you think of Reading?
Fan: They're amazing mate.
A bit harsh.
Of course, Reading were never going to take such slander lying down. They were quick to reply to the clip and boy did they keep the receipts.
They clapped back with a clip of Neville having an absolute howler against them in a game soon after their promotion to the Premier League in 2006, with the right back giving away a shocking penalty at their home ground.
Kevin Doyle would tuck away the resulting spot kick.
"Reading?...I don't think of Reading" 🫠 @GNev2 @KevinDoyle1983 Never in doubt 😉 https://t.co/0K6vs557kS pic.twitter.com/1PlrcxrHgt

The game would finish in a 1-1 draw thanks to a Cristiano Ronaldo penalty in the closing stages.
In fairness to Neville, he took the response in good spirits.

We're sure he will be keeping an eye on their results moving forward.
