Irish names have long been impenetrable to those not born on this island. When Reading captain Paul McShane quizzed his teammates on the pronunciation of some Irish names, it proved no different.
Callum Harriott, George Evans, Danzell Gravenberch, Yann Kermorgant and Joey van den Berg all struggled with little success as they tried to pronounce Grainne, Niamh, Roisín, Caoimhe, Saoirse, Eoghan, Tadgh and Mairéad.
